Jupiter FLorida Painting Commission for Dan Bishop

Painting on a timeline. Back to Boston now after a blissful few weeks of warm weather painting in the town of Jupiter where the light rivals that found in the reflective world of Cape Cod. Dan Bishop brought me to this project and really took his promise to take care of me while I worked seriously. He delivered me food, got fully involved in the research of the lighthouse and toured me around the town for all the best views. The best was the open welcome into his and Nicole's home. This painting is a result of observational painting as well as the influence of Arty-gras, a 300 booth art festival where I was able to understand the asthetic outlook of my patrons. This photo was taken from an amazing painting SIte on private land, soon to be developed but for me it was a quiet haven, welcoming only the best of visitors, including my Patron Dan Bishop formerly of Weymouth (we share this hometown); his witty and welcoming woman, my new friend, Nicole; new Patron's formerly of Jupiter, now of Charlotte, N.C. who knew just how to approach a struggling/concentrating painter the one day I attempted to paint at the worldclass and busy Inlet park of Jupiter, Dallas and Mary Lee now hang a small bit of painterly Jupiter in their kitchen. The owners of the land assure me that "Atists will always be welcome here" But will we want to be there after the hotel, 2 bars and new marina replace the simple fisherman's wharf? As my first visitor, the beautful 26 year old property manager, aptly put it when I commented on the sweetness of the owners' leaving this bit of forest..."well, they are leaving it for now." Well, I must spend more time there before it goes the way of all of Florida.
The above and following small paintings helped me to understand the light, space and structure in the first few days on site. With this excellerated process I discovered my own working mind...and am quite amused by it.
